Language Codes
This is a required code that must be entered for a student during the enrollment process
and designates the primary language spoken by a student. This code is also used to identify
the guardian’s primary language. Language codes may be cross-walked to state codes for
state reporting purposes within this area. The student’s Language field may be viewed on
the Student’s Profile > General > Profile tab. The guardian Language field may be viewed on
the Family tab by selecting the Edit option next to the guardian record and can be found in
the Additional Information section.
Navigate to Student Management > Advanced Features > Name Maintenance > Setup >
Codes, or Product Setup > Advance Features > Name Maintenance > Codes and select
Language Codes.
1. Select Add to create a new Language code.
2. Enter a Code.
3. Enter a Short and Long Description. Note: This code is district-wide and therefore a
code created for one school is available for other schools and entities in the district
4. If the district is using the Language Translator feature, then select the Translator
Code.
5. Depending on your state, an additional field may be available to cross-walk the code
to those needed for state reports.
6. Select Save
