Dear Parents,

Congratulations! Please accept the enclosed LEAF (Leadership, Effort, and Achievement at Field Award(s) as our faculty acknowledgement of your student’s hard work during Quarter 3 of the 2023-2024 school year.   The staff at Field School strives to recognize students for their unique contributions to our learning environment. We take a great deal of pleasure in rewarding our students for their academic growth and their positive involvement in our school community. LEAF awards are designed to encourage students to distinguish themselves through academic achievement, improvement, and effort, and through cooperation, leadership, and service to our school. The information below explains how LEAF awards can be earned.

ACADEMIC LEAF

∙ ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT - A student is awarded a LEAF for having a GPA of 3.25 and no grades of D, F or Fail (in a pass/fail class)

∙ ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT - (for Qtrs. 2, 3, & 4) In order to earn an academic improvement LEAF, students need to increase their overall GPS by 0.5 from the previous quarter. ∙ ACADEMIC EFFORT - In order to earn an effort LEAF, students must receive recommendations from any four staff members. Examples of effort may include the following:

Completing more work for each class than is expected by the teacher.

Demonstrating a consistent desire to push him or herself to do better, regardless of grade incentives or other external rewards.

Consistently seeking out alternate ways to understand concepts other than what a teacher has suggested in class.

Demonstrating a desire to improve understanding of a concept after failing to completely understand it the first time it was presented to them, regardless of grade incentives or other external rewards.

CITIZENSHIP LEAF

Citizenship LEAF are awarded for each quarter to recognize the positive contributions students make to the school environment in any of the following ways: Cooperation (Consistent willingness to work together with others in a positive manner), Leadership (Consistent willingness to positively direct or guide others), and Service (Consistent demonstrator of helping others through involvement in our school or outside community). A student must earn four points in a quarter to earn a citizenship LEAF. Students can earn points in the following ways:

∙ Students can earn up to one point for having no negative behavioral referrals or write-ups in Skyward.

∙ Students can earn up to one point for having at least one positive commendation documented in Skyward.

∙ Students can earn one point for participating in five or more hours of community service during a quarter and having it documented on the Community Service verification form on Skyward.

Thank you for your continued support of our efforts on behalf of all of our children.

Sincerely,
